Productivity Engineer (Continuous Improvement)

Job Purpose

The Productivity Engineer is responsible to oversee continuous improvement as well as machine preventative maintenance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and implementation (including purchasing responsibilities) of major projects for molding, assembly, automation, and any efficiency/productivity or other improvements (process, systems, and equipment) that continuously improve company profitability, quality and safety
  • Verify on all equipment that safety devices are in place and working in compliance with OSHA standards
  • Maintain clean, safe areas where maintenance work is being performed to meet safety requirements set forth by OSHA
  • Complete all Preventative Maintenance paperwork and documentation accurately and within the time required to meet ADMO requirements
  • Implement and update systematized Equipment and Tooling Preventative Maintenance and perform Preventative Maintenance on equipment and machines by required dates
  • Maintain adequate levels of inventory of parts and components needed to keep machines and secondary equipment running consistently and with minimal down-time
  • Complete all paperwork related to all Preventative Maintenance required by outside contractors
  • Provide maintenance and repairs on tools (molds) that require specific hydraulic, electrical, mechanical or other efforts as needed
  • Internal and external tooling involvement
  • Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing, including make or buy decisions

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED or 12 years formal education
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in plastic molding environment with strong knowledge of processing, tooling and automation
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, with a strong knowledge of hydraulic and electric maintenance

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 60+ pounds
  • Perform various physical duties including, but not limited to, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting and climbing
  • Occasionally perform sustained heavy labor in a high temperature environment
