Job Description
The Controller provides and updates financial information for management by analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. Daily accounting duties include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accounts Receivable – Process daily invoicing; prepare deposits; manage collections as needed to ensure consistent and timely payments by all customers per established terms; communicate concerns or need for additional action
  • Accounts Payable – Process incoming invoices; periodically review for payment; issue checks weekly or upon request
  • Accounting – Establish, modify, document and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures as needed
  • Monthly and Yearly Closings – Check for accuracy, run month-end reports and close: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Control and Payroll; close all accounts at year-end
  • Banking and Reconcilement – Reconcile and examine accounts for accuracy; reconcile bank statements; submit monthly financial information to bank (i.e., Borrowing Base Certificate)
  • Manage operating line of credit efficiently
  • Payroll – Review weekly payroll and analyze reports for accuracy; pay all payroll taxes on a timely basis; prepare, file and pay quarterly payroll tax reports; prepare year-end payroll tax reports, W-2s and W-3s
  • Annual Filings – Prepare and file 1099s and 1096 at year-end; prepare annual Domestic Corporation Report for ADMO, Inc. and Frankson; provide and submit necessary information to outside parties for preparation of Cafeteria Plan and 401k Plan Form 5500; prepare annual sales tax return
  • Keep accurate and updated records of current-year capitalized purchases for depreciation
  • Financial Statements – Produce, review and analyze Financial Statements (monthly, quarterly and year-end); work closely with CPAs throughout year and prepare necessary work papers to assist outside CPAs with year-end review or tax return; Review outside CPA annual year-end financial statements for accuracy; close general ledger after year-end Financial Statements have been approved
  • Regular and continuous interaction with company department managers and employees including collaborating on inventory reconciliation and measurable objective analysis
  • Request new customer credit information as necessary and provide customer references upon request
  • Review annual Worker’s Compensation, Commercial Liability and Automotive Insurance Package coverage with President

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting ore related field; CPA preferred; thorough understanding of accounting principles
  • Minimum of 7 years experience with at least two years as controller or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good computer skills; proficient in Word, Excel and ERP systems preferred
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems
  • A flexible approach to work with the capability of dealing with change; “can-do” attitude; capable of working in a team environment
